Recording, editing, and broadcasting video is now relatively quick and easy. It can be done with a device as simple as a phone and sent online through free programs like YouTube.
Schools should be taking advantage of the many available tools using video to share their instructional practices and connect with families.
Some examples that Ashland Elementary School uses video are to students for instruction, for parents as newsletters, and as introductions of staff members.
We also began uploading directly to Facebook with our videos to reach more of our audience. It has really worked and we can even see the analytics on which videos are more effective than others. Details matter such as length and topic of the video. Some of our recent videos have received hundreds of likes and thousands of views when we post this way!
